The Kraft Journal Make It Monday- Favorite Challenge Of 2013

Happy Monday! I hope your holiday was wonderful! It's a new challenge at The Kraft Journal today. We are asking you to look back and post a favorite project from this past year. I'm reaching all the way back to August and sharing the card I made for my first challenge as a member of The Kraft Journal design team. I really like this card so much! The original post is here.
I started my card with a base made with light kraft  card stock. After layering on some patterned papers and a scalloped die cut, I used a  small glassine bag, filled it with matching sequins and die cut the edge for a lacey look. I punched a hole in the folded over top and used two matching shades of Pastel Hemp Cord to secure it. I then adhered the bag to the front with foam tape,  added a small clothes pin, butterfly, green seam binding and a cute pink felt flower as embellishments. For the sentiment, I stamped a pink banner, adhered it to the front and finished it off with little pearl clusters.

Other supplies used but not listed above:
patterned papers-American Crafts
stamps-JustRite Papercraft
sequins-Hobby Lobby
dies-Spellbinders
butterfly-Martha Stewart Crafts
felt flower-Petaloo
pearls-Making Memories
seam binding-Hug Snug

May This Season Sparkle With Love And Laughter

Happy Saturday! It's the final weekend before Christmas and we are almost ready for Santa's visit! I've been making some last minute Christmas cards for family and friends. Here is a little shbby chic number I made the other day.
I'm not sure I'm willing to give this one away! I really fell in love with it. I don't know if I've ever shared my card making process with you, but I really have no process. I let my supplies guide me, and build it as I go along. This card started with the poinsettias I made with my Layered Poinsettias Spellbinder dies. All of flowers and leaves were sprayed with a gold color mist for sparkle. I wanted to make a shaped card, so I made a card base from my Grand Labels Four Spellbinders dies. After that, I chose patterned papers to layer; they're a mixture of American Crafts and Melissa Frances. I cut the out with Labels Four in a smaller size. My beautiful gold embossed frame and sentiment stamps are from JustRite Papercraft's Christmas Vintage Labels Four.I die cut the frame using the coordinating JustRite Custom Spellbinder die, Vintage Labels Four. I took some cream seam binding and sprayed it with more gold mist and dried it with my heat gun to save time. After adhering the card together, I found some cool gold beaded garland in my bling drawer and twined it into the flowers.
Here's a closeup of the sentiment and flowers.

Thanks so much for stopping by today!

Rustic Joyeux Noel

Good evening! I hope that this post finds you well and ready for the holidays! We're in the home stretch to Christmas! I've been busy this week finalizing my shopping and getting everything ready for Santa's visit. I also had some time in the craft room recently and whipped up this card to show you.

I absolutely adore wreaths and really love to include them on cards I make. I used my new Spellbinder's Rustic Wreath embossing folder on kraft card stock. I  hand colored it with my Copic Markers. The sentiment is from JustRite Papercraft's clear set, Heritage Christmas Ornaments. After I stamped it, I die cut it with one of the JustRite custom Spellbinders Antique Tags One and adhered it with some dimensional foam dots. I mounted the panel onto a scarlet red card base and added some burlap and red silk ribbon from May Arts. The metal embellishment is by Tim Holtz. This was really a simple card to make, once the coloring was done, it went together rather quickly.

Thanks for stopping by today! I really appreciate your visit.

For A Glad Christmastide-Make It Monday At The Kraft Journal

Happy Monday! I hope your weekend was wonderful! We're putting the finishing touches on our Christmas preparation here at our house. It's the last week before school lets out for the holidays and we have quite a round of concerts and parties to attend this week!
It's also time for a new challenge at The Kraft Journal blog. This week's challenge is 'something new'. It's open to your interpretation. I decided to use a new paper pad I purchased last week.
I am fascinated lately with deer and how to use them on cards! I found this sweet cut file at The Silhouette online store. I really loved the sentiment on this patterned paper from American Crafts,so I arranged my card around it. I kept this card pretty clean and simple, the most time consuming item here is the stitching.  I know I usually embellish the center of all my bows, but I kept this one clean and simple. This is a great card to replicate quickly in case you need to whip one up at the last minute. You could also forgo the sewing and get it done even more quickly.

Supplies used from The Kraft Outlet store-
Brown Kraft Notecard
Red And White Baker's Twine
Dark Jewel Hemp Cord Pack

Other Supplies-
patterned papers- American Crafts Wonderland 6x6 pad
brown card stock-Bazzill
wooden snowflake-Prima
enamel dot-My Mind's Eye
sequins-Hobby Lobby
tab punch-Jenni Bowlin for Fiskars

Make It Monday 150 At The Kraft Journal

Happy Monday! I hope your weekend was wonderful! Christmas is in full swing at my house. We're in the midst of decorating, shopping and going to parties. This time of year is really the best! Speaking of Christmas, it's time for a new challenge at The Kraft Journal. This week's theme is holiday gifts. I've put together a sweet little gift box using items from The Kraft Outlet store.

Who wouldn't want to get a gift in this awesome little gift box? I've taken some pictures of how I put this box together to share with you today.

I started with with a 3x3x2 kraft box. It comes flat,so it's easy to stamp on before you construct it. I used the snowflake stamps from Justrite Papercraft's Christmas Inner Thoughts cling stamp set. I stamped them with Versamark ink and embossed them with white embossing powder.

Here's how it looks after I put it together.
Some of the embossing powder stuck, but it lends to the handmade look!

I stamped my tag with a sentiment from the Christmas Inner Thoughts set on Blackboard Stock Paper, embossed it with white embossing powder, then die cut it with a Spellbinder's Labels 25 die.

While the tag was still on the die,I traced around the inside of the die with a white ink pen to make a border in the shape of the die. I used an ink dauber and some white ink and gently smudged a bit around the tag to give it a chalkboard look.

Ok, now, on with getting this box put together! I found a cute Santa image sticker from Seasonal Salvage Stickers and added him to the top of the box. You don't see it on the finished product, but it will be a little surprise for the recipient to discover.

Now it's time to add the gift! I used  some Kraft Recycled Tissue Paper to cushion the contents.
some yummy polishes for my daughter!

Now to wrap it up in some beautiful ribbons, bells and baubles! The red and white ribbon was purchased at Target. I also added a bow made from Kraft Wraphia Ribbon. I strung the bells and sentiment tag together with some red hemp cording from the Dark Jewel Hemp Cord Pack and strung it through the ribbon bow to attach it to the box. I also added a little wooden snowflake to the back.
I decided not to use the little ornaments pictured below, they were a little too big. Oh well, maybe I'll use them on the next project!
Here's another look at the finished project:

Just A Note Vintage Sentiment Tags- JustRite Papercraft December Release

Happy Friday! It's day Four of the December release from JustRite Papercraft! Today's featured stamp set Just A Note Vintage Sentiment Tags, is a cool vintage style set that can be used on or off a card. When I first saw these stamps, I knew they would be perfect to embellish little journals like Moleskin journals and the like.I bought this pack of two small journals at my local Target. They come in several colors and have blank covers, so they are perfect for stamping and embellishing.
I made a set of two and bound them together with twine and a gift tag. Would'nt these make great stocking stuffers?

JusRite is also introducing a new custom Spellbinder die Vintage Sentiment Tags. It coordinates with Just A Note, but even better, it was also designed to fit the longer sentiments in past stamp sets. This die set is a great price and would be a great addition to your collection since it can be retro fitted to stamps you may already own. To see a listing of coordinating stamp sets, visit the product listing page here.

Here are few more views of the journals. I kept it simple by embossing the titles in gold and adding some little charms I found in my stash.
